Bike tour and Leaning Tower climb
Pisa is spread along the Arno river on a fantastic plain and bike is the favorite way to move for locals.
We meet in Vittorio Emanuele Square, close to train station, we choose our bike, we wear the helmet and go, along the streets of the historic center, first stop at “Ponte di mezzo” that divides Pisa into “Tramontana” (north side) and “Mezzogiorno” (south side). Even the Lungarni deserve a stop for the beautiful buildings renaissance style and for the stories they tell us.
Afterwards let’s go on to the discovery of other treasures, wandering in the university alleys, in the Renaissance squares, to come out in that breathtaking marvel called Piazza Miracle Square, just in front of the Tower of Pisa, the protagonist!
We tie our bikes and go climb the Tower. It’s true, there are 251 treads but it worth the effort! From its top we can see the entire Pisa, our itinerary through the city streets, the Arno river and the sea!
An absolute, unique, memorable experience.
After a coffee break, inevitably offered by the Guide…, we get on our bikes and leave again.
We stop for getting a glimpse into botanical garden, for a peek of the Royal Palace, for visit Santa Maria della Spina, a little Gothic coffer.
Finally on the way back we will get lost in the lines and colors of “Tuttomondo”, the work of art that Keith Haring wanted to leave to the Pisans, after a fortuitous and fortunate chain of events worthy of a novel. Here the photo with the Guide is a must… I cannot do without it!
